Hammer Embossing Technique

So I had a client come up to me a few weeks back, requesting me to make her a stack of cards, 50 to be exact. She had some specific requirements, which involved a dandelion blowing in the wind along withe the phrase "paying it forward". I absolutely loved her idea, however I was unable to find this specific stamp and style, already available to me. So with some research online I was able to find a fabulous custom made stamp company, www.rubbermadestamps.net was the source that I found to be exactly what i needed.

To my surprise I received the stamp set in a very timely matter, and not to mention excellent quality as well. I was so impressed, will definitely use these guys again. Check out the beautifully carved wood stamp sets, aren't they fabulous?

So once I received the stamp set, I did up a few samples to show my client. She ended up choosing something right in between the two ideas, so with her request this is what I came up with.  She wanted a variety of different colors for both men and woman, so I thought this would be a good color combo
{basic gray, nights of navy, cherry cobbler, watermelon wonder, and cucumber crush}

I love how crisp the image turned out, it really replicated my image to a T. Which is what made me very happy, and my client even happier =) Win Win right.

So to get the look of this card, I needed to do a very cool technique with a "hammer" yes that is correct a hammer. She loved the idea of the embossing on the white, but she didn't want her card to have any lifting with 3Dimensionals. So to improvise and not ruin the stamped image, nor the embossed phrase I used the embossing folder with a hammer, to only get certain areas of the paper. You will see below how I did that, although be careful not to hammer to hard as you don't want to ruin your folder (which I did the first time *sigh*).

This is what the card looks like when your done with your hammer, you see how the dots only surround the images, but don't ruin the stamping. I love how simple this technique is, it definitely can be a little more time consuming than just using your big shot; especially when your making 50 of them.....ha ha, but that's OK it's worth it for the end result.
