We decided to start searching around the Edmonton area for a new home that we wanted to build, we looked thru many show homes but struggled to find something that really popped for us and gave us everything we wanted on our list until we finally came across a show home in McConachie that we fell in love with. It had all the items we were looking for, large kitchen, large flex room on the main floor, beautiful finishings, great location, 4 bedrooms upstairs that were very spacious with every room having walk in closets it truly was a dream come true :) So after some back and forth talking with the builder and going back to the show home several times we finally decided on a lot and put a deposit down in January 2013.
We spent lots of time working out all the little touches we wanted to add to our home and just couldn't wait to open the door to move in but of course knew it was not that simple.
Decided to list/sell my previous home which i was currently renting out so that we could eliminate one less property on our hands as at this point in time we were currently owning 3 homes (well at least had money in all 3) so after some stressful couple months and thinking my house wouldn't sell we got an offer in late May and the owners took possession August 1, 2013. Yay one marked off our list and one to go.
We decided regardless of the timing of when we took possession of our new home we felt it was time we list our current home we live in on the market and if it sold we would just find a place to rent temporarily, well you think we were worried with our first house this time was even more stressful. Our current home is old and needs some work (to be expected) where as my previous home was virtually brand new so of course easier to sell. Well months went by and we had lots of viewings and people who seemed interested but never a single bite.
5 months later, we decided it was time to take the house off the market. We were starting to prepare for our new home and needed to start packing so the house became more and more difficult to keep uncluttered so we pulled it off the market with anticipation to re list it in February once we were all moved out. Well after a week of taking it off the market to our surprise we got an offer on the house totally out of the blue which completely threw us for a loop but was also very exciting for us. It couldn't have been better timing as they requested for a move in day of February 14th and we were granted possession of our new home for January 29 so at the end of it all God was most certainly on our side and made everything work out. What a blessing.
Which at the end of it all, makes this next week of anticipation even more exciting for us to look forward to. We can now officially say we can walk into this home with no stress on our plates and a wonderful year ahead of us and many new memories to share. Some photos of the beginning stage and how it looks today with a few minor painting left to do.
